Georgi Abbott has nailed it once again! Similar to her first book "Pickles The Parrot", but a more indepth look at the care and commitment parrots require. You'll laugh out loud at the situations that arise with Pickles and his human companions. In this book, the writer has also given Pickles a voice to muse about the world. Pickles is charming playing the role of philosopher and comedian.

As a grey owner, I thoroughly enjoyed her tongue in cheek style of writing about every day life with an African grey.I would highly recommend anyone who is remotely considering adding a grey to their household should read her books first, and take every word that she says about life with a grey to heart. She has nailed it, and although they are wonderful, amazing birds, they are not for the faint of heart.

Pickles the Parrot Returns My Continued Adventures With a Bird Brain edition by Georgi Abbott Crafts Hobbies Home eBooks Reviews
The second book by by Georgi Abbott featuring her amazing African Grey Parrot, Pickles, is a real gem! Clever stories of the intelligent and sometimes nearly-human like Pickles are paired with fascinating and useful info about having a companion parrot. This book is an essential read to pair with any guide on parrot ownership! If your looking for fascinating info paired with humor, this is the perfect book for you....or for anyone who is owned by a parrot!
This is such a true a funny story of a truely lover parrot. Great and hillarious writing! You won't be disappointed!
I promised myself I would read on our trip away. I read on my ipad throughout the week but while reading both ways on the plane, I found myself laughing out loud even though I was in the middle seat. Yeah, I felt a bit foolish but these stories are so funny I didn't care!! As a newer CAG parront, her insite, hillaity and enjoyment she shares with Pickles really fills me up with the true love she has for him.
"Georgi - I thank you for sharing your wonderful life with us through your books and I can't wait to finish all your books and can't wait for any new ones to come next!!"
"Parrots will do as they please, humans should relax and get used to the idea." Um, yeah, that is pretty much how it goes with parrots. This book is a sequel to Pickles the Parrot and what a satisfying encore it is.
We Pickles fans already know that Pickles is engaging, uproariously entertaining, headstrong, and in complete possession of his own ideas about life and what he wants from it. He is one very smart bird.
Because I have two parrots, I especially appreciate Pickles the Parrot Returns. Author Georgi Abbott, both a keen observer and a fine storyteller, weaves much into this meaty delight of a book.
Chock full of the day-to-day routine of living with a parrot parrot-feeding recipes, routines, strategies, training techniques, schedules, phobias, entertainments, sense of humor, avoidance of baths, mischief--among many other topics--and peppered with Pickles' antics and vignettes of life with an African Grey parrot, this second Pickles book is an inspired sequel.
Sometimes when reading about yet another of Pickles' ornery capers, my parrots' pranks seem downright uninspired. However, I quickly remind myself that I did not have to sweep five pounds of flour off every surface of the kitchen and attempt to get a flour-sodden bird clean either. Ahem.
Ms. Abbott offers a grounded assessment of parrot-human interactions, favoring neither species. I laughed as hard as the first Pickles book and I got more of a sense of life with Pickles and his humans. This book has a bit more of a story weaving it all together, more the author's voice and observations of life with Pickles.
Not everything that any parrot does is funny. I appreciate the groundedness of Pickles the Parrot Returns. Pickles continues to delight and surprise us with his clever and capable adaptation as a member of a human-parrot-canine flock. He certainly makes it a flock. And Georgi Abbott has put forth another wonderful Pickles book full of belly laughs as well as solidly informative.
I laughed plenty and, yes, learned much reading Pickles the Parrot Returns. It was the perfect balance of information and entertainment. In fact, I would recommend this Pickles book to non-parrot owners as the first book to better understand of life with a parrot--and then suggest reading Pickles the Parrot for sheer entertainment. Either way, parrot owners and non-parrot owners alike will be delighted with both books. Do not miss either one.
This book still has those great Pickles stories but is also a lot of information on caring for your parrot. Including some recipes for birdie bread, great for those of us with picky eaters, even some dog treat recipes (since the writer also has a small dog)!
In short, very informative and a great read.
Pickles is very fun and entertaining. I enjoyed all his adventures and would recommend it to others.
The Pickles books is good read even if you don't have a parrot.
You just have to be amazed at this bird! The writing is clean and conversational and the author makes you feel like a neighbor who's dropped by for tea. Looking forward to more about PIckles
I myself have a parrot family. JOJO a Severe Macaw, Charlie Girl an Orange Winged and little Hurley a cockateil. I find myself laughing at the similarities of Pickles & my birds, especially Charlie Girl. And also sympathise with you over the messes, crazy behavior and shrieking. Love the books.
As a grey owner, I thoroughly enjoyed her tongue in cheek style of writing about every day life with an African grey.
I would highly recommend anyone who is remotely considering adding a grey to their household should read her books first, and take every word that she says about life with a grey to heart. She has nailed it, and although they are wonderful, amazing birds, they are not for the faint of heart.
